“The VERA family founds, in 1924 the company VERA, for the exploitation of some regional administrative concessions, which joined Murcia with some of the close villages, such as La Alberca, Alguazas, El Palmar, Mazarrón y Águilas.”

VERA’s origin took place at the beginning of the 20th century, when the first transport services were established, which - regularly or not - joined various villages in Murcia’s area with the capital.

The transportation of travelers and goods was, at that time, of vital importance, not only because of the food supply, but also to encourage the development and socio-cultural exchange between the municipalities they used to attend. It was a hard beginning, of hardworking, but it helped to create the foundations in which our professionalism is currently settled.

Faster journeys in the decade of the 50’s

At that time, society was going through some deep changes. The technological breakthroughs, that allowed replacing animal traction for steam engines first, and combustion engines later, offered optimal possibilities to the development of transportation.

The first transportation legislation appeared in 1922, regulating and establishing the current concession system, because until then there weren’t any regulations on the number of operators working on a specific track.

Relying on that, and on the acquired experience on transportation by animal drawn (calash), the VERA family founds, in 1924 the company VERA, for the exploitation of some regional administrative concessions, which joined Murcia with some of the close villages, such as La Alberca, Alguazas, El Palmar, Mazarrón y Águilas.

Since then, VERA started evolving progressively into a more specialized company and suited in the field of transporting travelers through the road.

During the postwar period, when Spain was economically isolated and the rationing period was established, which also led to a lack of energetic products, they searched for alternative energy resources like gasifier cauldrons, which produced gas from the combustion of firewood and coal.

That project of illusion, dedication and work was the origin of what we all know today as AUTOCARES VERA.

Beginning of the line Mazarrón – Murcia

Since then, VERA started evolving progressively into a more specialized company and suited in the field of transporting travelers through the road.

During the 1970’s the company had its first expansion, establishing a new base in Madrid destined to a discretionary and touristic service. They started making journeys and excursions for tour operators, travel agencies, leisure groups, and sports and cultural centres. They also started making touristic routes around Spain and Europe.

"Nowadays, AUTOCARES VERA focuses in discretionary transportation, discretionary touristic, regular of special use and regular of general use, with a fleet of 50 units of all kinds of capabilities and features, with the aim of satisfying each of our client’s necessities."
